When: 7 p.m., Saturday, May 5, at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale

Cost: $7 per ticket

We have an opportunity to order tickets for Saturday night’s NWA Naturals baseball game (their first Scout Night of the season) as a group so that we can (a) save $2 per ticket and (b) get tickets all together.

If you would like to attend the game as part of our group, please email me the number of tickets you want for your family by NOON tomorrow/Friday, May 4. After that, you can still attend the game, of course, but will have to pay regular price for tickets and might not get to sit with the rest of the pack. You can still stay for fireworks, the movie, and camping after the game, of course.

I must collect your $7 per ticket IN CASH AT THE GAME when you get your tickets. I will be outside with our group’s tickets until the game starts at 7PM. I will be there starting at 6:30 PM. Find me (I’ll be wearing a gold Pack 46 shirt), and I’ll sell you your tickets and we can all go in and enjoy the game and festivities! If you do NOT show up for the game but ordered tickets, you will still owe me $7 per ticket!

If you have any questions, please call or email me ASAP!

When: Saturday, May 19 at Noon to 10am, Sunday, May 20

Where: Lake Weddington Group Camp Area

Cost: $5 per camper (maximum of $20 per family)

IMPORTANT: You can pay at the campout, or you can pay in advance, either via PayPal, or in-person to Steven Jarvis or Matt Morningstar. To pay via PayPal, send $5 per camper (or per diner, if you’re planning to eat Saturday evening but not stay overnight), up to a maximum of $20 per family, to payments@razorbackpack46.org.

I can’t believe it’s almost time for the Pack 46 End-of-Year Graduation Campout and Raingutter Regatta! We have some great activities scheduled, and you’ll also have an opportunity to sign up for Twilight Camp and Cub Resident Camp.

Special!: As part of the Pack Graduation Ceremony, we’d like for all Cub Scouts present to have their new rank’s neckerchief and slide for their parents to present to them. To make that easier, we’re going to have a bunch of them available for purchase to save you a trip to the Scout Shop that week. We’ll also have a few Handbooks for each rank available for purchase so maybe you can get a head start on some advancement work over the summer.

Be sure your Cub Scout brings his Class A uniform to change into after the Regatta for the ceremonies. For what to bring camping (don’t forget your mess kit!), check out the Camping section of our online Handbook.

VOLUNTEER! We need volunteers for the following jobs at this event (updated Wed 5/9): Raingutter Regatta decoration supervision (1), Cookout cooks (1-2), Supper cleanup crew (1-2), Breakfast chefs (2), breakfast cleanup crew (2), Sunday morning cleanup crew (2-4) to help pack up group gear and pack it into vehicles for the trip home. The more volunteers we have, the better and faster every part of the event will go! To volunteer, please contact Cubmaster Steven Jarvis. Thanks for helping make our pack events super awesome!

Sign Up for Other Fun Stuff: You can also turn in your registration for Twilight Camp (See more info on Twilight Camp here), pay your Pack Dues if you haven’t already, buy your neckerchiefs and slides for the day’s ceremony, etc.

The schedule will be:

Saturday, May 19: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Arrive and set up tents (Group Camp Area) and Lunch (bring your own or eat on the way!)

1 to 2 p.m.

Trail Maintenance Service Project and Hike

2 p.m.: Raingutter Regatta Begins!

Pack will provide boats and things to decorate them with, then we’ll start racing!

4 p.m.: Awards and Rank Advancement Ceremony

We’ll give out some awards and graduate our dens to their next rank.

6 p.m.: Dinner in Camp

Amazing volunteers (maybe you?) will grill up some great grub for everyone!

7:30 p.m.: Campfire and Some Special Awards

We’ll gather around the campfire after supper to award some special awards to some deserving Cub Scouts along with some other fun campfire activities.

Sunday, May 20: 8am: Breakfast

Another amazing meal cooked up by amazing volunteers (perhaps you?)

9 a.m.: Scout’s Own Service

Join us for a short non-denominational service before we pack up and leave camp.

9:30 a.m.: Clean up and head out

Please stick around to help leave our campsite cleaner than we found it before we head home after a great campout!

When: 5:30pm to 9pm, Tuesday, June 26 to Friday, June 29

Where: St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1722 Starr Road, Fayetteville

Cost: $50 before May 23 ($65 after May 23); $30 if parent is a volunteer for 3 days; FREE if parent is a volunteer all 4 nights

Deadline: Registration is by Pack, so you need to turn in the registration form, a BSA Health form Part A and B, and payment to the Pack by Wednesday, May 23 at 9 p.m. You can turn it in at the Graduation Campout on May 19 and 20 or deliver it to the Cubmaster’s house by the deadline.

Download the 2012 Razorback District Twilight Camp Registration Form

Tigers (not Tigers now, as they’ll be Wolves in June, but brand new Cub Scouts who will be in 1st grade next fall or will be 7 by Twilight Camp) MUST HAVE an adult partner with them AT ALL TIMES during Twilight Camp.

We will need at least two volunteers for 1-10 Scouts, 3 volunteers for 11-15 Scouts, 4 volunteers for 16-20 Scouts, and 5 volunteers for 21-25 Scouts. Volunteers can lead groups (usually ours Scouts) around from activity to activity or can help with the program (materials will be provided in advance). Contact Cubmaster Steven Jarvis for more information on volunteering.

Attending Twilight Camp (or Cub Scout/Webelos Resident Camp at Camp Orr in July) is one of the ways to satisfy the requirements for the Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award (the cool patch that goes on the right pocket flap of the uniform) and helps qualify for the Summer Activity Award (a pin that also goes on the right pocket flap).

We’ll go for a nice afternoon hike at Tanyard Creek Nature Trail (2.1 miles) in Bella Vista. A map with directions from Grace Church (and you can extrapolate any Fayetteville location from the map) is located here. There’s ample opportunity to get wet, so maybe bring water shoes or at least a couple of towels to leave in the car! Remember your hiking essentials and possibly the bug spray. Also, rain gear.

Inclement Weather Policy: if severe weather is threatening or it is raining, we’ll postpone the hike until Sunday, May 6 at 2pm. Monitor your email and/or Facebook (if you’re a member of the Pack 46 Group) for an update before 1 p.m. on Sunday.

When: Friday, March 30 through Sunday, April 1

Where: Roaring River State Park near Cassville, Missouri

Cost: $10 per person, $40 max per family for camping and food. The cost of a fishing tag and/or license (see below) is paid directly to the park.

REGISTER: To register for this campout no later than Tuesday, March 27 (and pay online via PayPal), visit this page.

Once again, we’ll try to go to Roaring River State Park near Cassville, Missouri where we’ll camp out and fish for trout at Roaring River.

Signup: You can sign up in person at the March Pack Meeting/Crossover on March 10, at the Pack Committee Meeting on Thursday, March 15, or online starting Monday, March 12. You must be signed up and paid in full by Tuesday, March 27. Due to having to plan and buy food and pay for camping in advance, everyone who’s camping must be signed up in advance. Also, when you sign up, please sign up for one duty at camp. We need people to pitch in and help cook, clean, and do other things to make this campout go smoothly.

Camping: We’ll get camp set up at the Roaring River Scout Camp some point Friday afternoon. The Scout Camp is about 1.5 miles past the bridge on State Highway F. It will be on the left near the old stables. We have the entire Scout Camp reserved. There is a pit latrine but no running water. Please bring a full water bottle for each member of your family, and the Pack will bring some large containers to refill, cook, and clean from. For more on how Pack 46 does camping, see the Camping section of the Parent Handbook.

Meals: Friday evening meal is BRING YOUR OWN! Please eat on the way or bring food you can prepare easily in camp. We’ll have the camp kitchen set up but we’re not preparing a group meal as some people won’t arrive until Saturday morning or late Friday night. We’ll have group meals for Saturday breakfast, Saturday lunch, Saturday supper, and Sunday breakfast.

Remember to bring your water bottle and mess kit (see here for details) as the pack has phased out paper and styrofoam products!

Fishing: You’ll need to stop by the park office (at the lodge on your way in) to get your fishing tags (for all ages) and/or licenses (for those 15 and older). We’ll carpool down to the fishing area on Saturday (you can also hike down — it’s about 1.25 miles along a trail).

Rainout: There is always the possibility that the presence or threat of severe weather (or heavy rain) will cancel the campout. If that occurs, all camping fees will be returned as soon as possible or credited towards your Scout’s 2012 dues if you have not paid already. It might also just cancel one night, in which case we’ll figure out an equitable reimbursement.

Steve Byars will be leading a hike along the North Twin Hike/Mountain Biking Trail on the north side of hwy 16 (right side) just before the entrance to Lake Wedington. A map can be found here: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fsm8_042782.pdf

There is parking at the trailhead. This will be a nature hike in the easy to moderate category (but not stroller friendly).

This will be a “down and back” hike for a total of 2-3 miles (NOT the entire trail). On the way back, the Scouts will discuss Leave No Trace and pick up litter along the trail.

When: Saturday, March 10, 8:30am

Where: Gordon Long Park, Gregg St., Fayetteville (see below)

Our annual tree planting project with the Illinois River Watershed Project will be at Gordon Long Park (on Gregg Ave) in Fayetteville this year.

Parking is extremely limited at the actual park, but we can park north of there in the big lot and hike down the trail to the park (and pick up a mile or so of hiking at the same time!). We’ll meet at the lot at the corner of Gregg and Appleby at 8:30am, then hike down to the park. This is a great cause (protecting our city’s riparian habitat), and it’s something that is pretty easy for Cub Scouts to do. The IWRP really appreciates our involvement.

This also qualifies for the conservation project requirement of the Leave No Trace Award and the Cub Scout World Conservation Award and I think a couple of Webelos Activity Badges, too. We also get hours toward our Journey to Excellence award.
