Pay 2012 Dues

Dues for 2012 will be due starting in January. They cover the entire year for 2012. You may pay in two installments of $25 each in January and February or one $50 payment. You can pay via check (to your den leader or to another leader at a pack meeting) or online below.

Current Webelos II Scouts do not pay dues to the pack for 2012. You’ll have dues to your new Boy Scout troop in March.

If you need help paying your dues through a scholarship or other payment plan, please contact Pack Committee Chair Matt Morningstar by the end of January.

Pinewood Derby

When: Saturday, January 28 at 9am

Where: Grace Church, 2828 Crossover Road, Fayetteville

Pack 46′s Pinewood Derby is Saturday, January 28 at 9am. Here are the important dates and things to remember when working on your car:

Pinewood Derby Test and Tune Night

6pm to 9pm, Friday, January 27, Grace Church.

We’ll have the track set up, and you can run your car and adjust wheels, weight, etc. before checking it in that night.

We would like as many people as possible to come Friday night and check in their cars so we can get started racing as fast as possible on Saturday.

If you don’t check your car in Friday night, please arrive by 8:30am Saturday morning to get checked in before we start racing at 9am. The computer software won’t let us check in any more racers after we begin racing!

Volunteers

If you would like to volunteer to help set up the track on Thursday, January 26 or help during the signup and racing on Saturday, please contact Justin Baugh, our PWD Crew Chief.

  • The overall width of the car shall not exceed 2 3/4 inches.
  • The car must have 1 3/4” clearance between the wheels.

Scouting for Food

When: Saturday, Feb. 4 at 9am

Where: Root Elementary Parking lot

We’ll be putting out bags for Scouting For Food, to help collect food for a food pantry (we haven’t decided which one yet) during the time of year when food pantries need food the most — AFTER the holidays.

We’ll meet at the Root Elementary parking lot, divide into teams with maps and bags and put out the bags for collection. The Boy Scouts of Troop 46 will collect the full bags the following Saturday and deliver it to a food bank for both units.

All the time spent by our Cub Scouts on this project goes toward our pack’s Journey To Excellence, which is an award we can earn for doing all sorts of awesome Scouting stuff.

Blue and Gold Banquet

WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.

WHERE: Mount Comfort Church of Christ (3249 W Mount Comfort Rd, Fayetteville, AR 72704)

Cost: $10 per family, payable at the door

Our 2012 Blue and Gold Banquet is coming soon! If your Cub Scout wants to receive his rank badge (Tiger Cub, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, Arrow of Light) at Blue and Gold, make sure he has completed all the requirements and entered them in Scout Track by Feb. 13!

We’ll get together to celebrate Cub Scouting and all the hard work our Cub Scouts have done this year. We’ll have a great sit-down dinner (baked ziti, salad, bread, dessert, drinks), an entertaining program, and we’ll give out rank awards that our Cub Scouts have earned this year.

You should have received an email asking for volunteers to help set up on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Please give an hour or two of your time to help ensure this event is a smashing success!

Pack T-Shirts!

Pack 46 t-shirtThe next round of Pack 46 t-shirts are coming! Please contact Matt Morningstar (see contact info in Scout Track) for how to reserve one. This will be the last batch until late Spring or early Fall.

All Parents Should Take Youth Protection Training

For any Scout Parent — especially if you want to become an Adult Volunteer — the first thing you need to do — even before filling out a BSA Adult Volunteer Application — is to take Youth Protection training at myscouting.scouting.org, the BSA’s online training center.

Youth Protection Training covers how scout leaders and parents deal with children for the protection of all involved. Our goal at Pack 46 is to get EVERY parent to take the Youth Protection training so that you all know how we deal with your children and why we do it that way.

Once you take Youth Protection, you can apply to be an Adult Volunteer and do other training, many of which are available online.

Pack 46 Bike Rodeo — POSTPONED

When: TO BE RESCHEDULED

Where: Pediatric Dental Associates, Rainforest Drive (off Joyce Blvd, behind the Arvest Bank across from the Post Office) in Fayetteville

NOTE: The Bike Rodeo was postponed due to thunderstorms. We’ll reschedule soon.

We’ll have Bicycle officers from the Fayetteville Police Department helping us learn about safety, an obstacle course, a “who can go the slowest” race, a local bike shop will hold a class on bike maintenance and how to deal with a flat tire, some other activities, and then a ride on the Mud Creek Trail to top off the morning.

We hope to see you there!

Volunteer with Pack 46: Family Talent Survey is online

Pack 46 is made up of families. Cub Scouts, siblings, parents, leaders. We all contribute to making Cub Scouting the best it can be for our boys. One of the ways we as parents do that is by volunteering. Some parents have a lot of time to volunteer and some do not. But everyone can contribute something to Pack 46.

One of the ways we keep track of the rich resources we have in our pack’s families is with a Family Talent Survey. For the first time, we now have our Family Talent Survey online. It takes just a few minutes to fill it out and submit it. You can let us know what skills or talents you have that you’d like to contribute to our pack. And then we’ll know who we can call on when we have a particular need.

Thanks!

Welcome
